COMO Shambhala Urban Escape

One of the things that Cy and I hoped to squeeze in our Bangkok trip was a massage. Not only do we love to try the best spa places in town, we were literally tired and stressed from work prior to this trip and so we really wanted to make sure we could have at least a few hours of pampering. My best friend, Ken said we could easily have one outside of our hotel and at the very last minute I wasn't sure if the crazy prizes at Como Shambhala would be worth it. But one look at the place and I knew it was gonna be worth every cent.

Como Shambhala is one of the best rated well being places in the world, awarded as one of the Top Asian Spas by the The Ultimate Spa Guide. One of its sanctuaries was conveniently situated at the Metropolitan Hotel. What's more, the one in Bangkok is the largest city retreats they have so far so I really think we were lucky to have experienced the place. Apart from the spa treatments that are on top of your hotel service, each guest is entitled to attend free classes (pilates, yoga, stretching), personal trainers at the gym, and use the common areas at the sanctuary.

Evey guest is advised to go to the sanctuary at least 30 minutes prior to your treatments so you can really enjoy the facilities. In our case, we came in early to check out the products and we were suprised that the bath products that we were using in our hotel room were sold at a steep price which made us all the more appreciate the room service we were getting! We also checked out the gym facility where overflowing bottled waters, luxurious towels, etc. were there for you to use at your disposal and you could also get a personal trainer if you wanted to. Cy and I separated for a while so we can use the common area facilities and I was lucky enough to be the only person there! I literally pranced around and enjoyed the Hdyro pool all to myself!

After a couple more minutes enjoying the facilities, Cy and I met up in the lobby to fill up the forms and get our healthy juice orders which came free as part of our treatments.

The couples room was actually very simple. Tirta Spa and the Villa at The Spa, Hight St. looked grander. However, in terms of the treatments, it was just absolutely perfect.

I had the COMO Shambhala Bath. For 120 minutes, this therapy exfoliates and softens your skin. After dry brushing, COMO Shambhala’s Invigorate Salt Scrub is applied, infused with essential oils and oat bran. The session concludes a COMO Shambhala massage and healthy juice. I've had salt scrubs, coffee srubs, and other exotic type of scrubs in the past and I wasn't sure how this would be any different but surprisingly enough it was really good. It really left my skin super baby smooth! Since the treatment was essentially a bath, I really felt like Cleopatra being pampered and being given several baths with pretty little flowers floating around the tub.

The massage was also amazing. I really felt like a million bucks after this.

Cy on the other hand, had the COMO Shambhala PURIFY For Men.For 75 minutes, this treatment incorporates an initial warming compress and back cleanse, followed by a purifying back and scalp massage. The treatment concludes an express PURIFY facial, which rehydrates and balances deeply cleansed skin. Cy absolutely loved his treatment! Prior to the facial, we were already talking about how we super needed a facial cleaning when we go back to Manila and Cy didn't want to have one because he felt like it was just gonna stress him out. In this case he really enjoyed ever minute of it. They were so generous with the products as well. They used their best ones on his face and and on his back after the treatment, Cy felt so relaxed and rejuvinated

After our treatments, we were served the Glow's Berry Energizer shake and I bought some exclusive Shambhala products to remember this amazing sanctuary by. I got one of their mood candles and their signature product, Purify Hyrdrating Toner Mist which I read from a magazine as one of the must-haves especially for summer as it really refreshes your face.

I am truly grateful to have experienced this place and I encourage you guys to try it out when you are in town. Yes, the prices are a little bit steep but I assure you, if you want the ultimate pampering experience for you and your significant other, this will be worth it. My boyfriend and I were in Bangkok last 2007 and we were able to squeeze in a spa date in our itinerary. We tried S Medical Spa and it was very relaxing. After days and days of walking and shopping, going to the spa was the perfect end to our Bangkok trip.
